Bridget Lawrence
RPN, FCN Ed

Bridget is Co-Owner and Manager of Foot Care Academy, which is owned and operated by Advanced Foot Care Nurses, Diabetes Educators and Instructors with over 35 combined years of community and hospital care experience.She has been an Educator at Foot care Academy, who was recently nominated for Best Foot Care Clinic by Readers Choice Awards 2020, since 2014.Bridget is a Registered Practical Nurse for over 25 years, with a strong health care and administrative background. Her experience in these areas stems from her work as a visiting nurse in the community, as well as from working in various settings, including hospitals, long and short-term rehabilitation stroke services, palliative care medicine and surgical care.

Bridget has a passion for education. During her 26 years of nursing, Bridget has taken various certificate courses including Health Coaching, Advanced and Diabetic Nursing Foot Care, Practice Nurse Educator, Legal Documentation and charting, Wound Care and Management. She also earned a certificate in Health Coaching, has completed Practice Nurse Educator courses at York University and is currently enrolled in the Nursing (BScN) bridging program at George Brown College and Health Law at Osgoode Law school.

Memberships include:  College of Nurses of Ontario, Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses, and Canadian Society of Vascular Nursing.

Arshad Humanyun RD, CDE

Arshad Humayun is a Registered Dietitian serving in the Diabetes Education Program in Scarborough. He is a Certified Diabetes Educator and has certificates of trainings in Adult and Adolescent Weight Management. Arshad possess strong academic background in the field of Dietetics/Nutrition and excellent experience of providing nutrition care to people suffering from various diseases and conditions including diabetes, obesity, and related complications. Arshad also possess a strong teaching and research background with excellent skills of critically evaluating scientific literature, writing experimental protocols, conducting research studies in the field of human energy metabolism and published significant number of publications in high impact peer reviewed Nutrition Journals.

 

After completing his bachelor’s and Master’s in Human Nutrition at NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan; Arshad served as a lecturer in the Department of Human Nutrition and taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Human Nutrition and guided graduate students on their research projects.  Arshad received his second master’s degree in Foods & Nutrition from University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, USA; and then PhD Degree in Human Nutrition from University of Southampton, England, UK. During his PhD, he used stable isotope tracer methodology and traced the metabolism of exogenous lipids in healthy men & in patients with Type 2 diabetes. After receiving his PhD degree, Arshad completed his postdoctoral research fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. During his postdoctoral fellowship, he developed and used novel research protocols based on indicator amino acid oxidation technique and

determined metabolic availability of amino acids in various proteins in adults and protein requirements of adults and children. During his post-doctoral research fellowship, Arshad had also completed a dietetic internship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.  Afterwards, Arshad worked as a Registered Dietitian in various clinical and community settings and helped his clients achieve improved health, weight loss, and overall well-being,

Marg Lovell RN, MNEd

Marge Lovell has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and has worked in the capacity as a vascular nurse during that time. She is an expert in Vascular nursing, served 4 terms as president of the Canadian Society for Vascular Nursing (CSVN), Marge has a Passion for education, and looks forward teaching to nurses and allied health professionals.  Marge have a passion for education, she has obtained a master’s degree in education. Over the years, Marge has taught nurses both in Canada and The United States of America (USA), she has also taught students through McMasters Distance Learning for several years
